The 30 Day Resident Evil Challenge - Day 17

Q: Favorite boss battle?

A: Ricardo Irving

-----

This was a hard question to answer. But, I feel that overall, Resident Evil 5 definitely has my most favorite boss battles. They all stick out in my mind because they'e so unique.. not to mention you fight super GIGANTIC creatures.

There's something oddly satisfying about shooting the absolute shit out of a giant evil sea creature monster.. thing. Although you have high powered weapons, you're still stranded on the boat deck. He swims around you, giving a feeling of constant threat.. a sense of panic.

When I played Resident Evil 4, I remember thinking how awesome Del Lago was, and it's still one of my favorite boss battles to date. The fight against Irving is a step up from that and is so reminiscent of that fight for me, which is probably why it's the one that pops up in my head first as my top favorite. The instant death scene where he eats you is the cherry on top of the sundae.

The 30 Day Resident Evil Challenge - Day 10

Q: Most underrated female character?

A: Sheva Alomar (Resident Evil 5)

-----

I was really disappointed that Sheva never got another appearance. I thought that she was a great character. She had a very naive and somewhat sweet personality differing from the battle hardened ladies who have seen it all. There was something very endearing about her. I feel as if her and Chris really had a lot of respect for one another and worked well as a team. The interactions between them were good and they just.. clicked. She is competent, cheerful and doesn't annoy me in the slightest.

She doesn't have a lot of backstory which is maybe why they didn't bring her back for any other appearances, but I for one would have been very happy to see her again.

The 5 Sexiest Women in Resident Evil

A follow up to my "The 5 Sexiest Men in Resident Evil" blog post, I meant to do this right after the male counterpart was posted.. but never got around to it. Until now! It's never too late (and never a bad time I may add) to talk about beautiful women. Here's my top 5 list.

#5 - Sheva Alomar

I do wish that Sheva were in more games. I very much liked her as a character and enjoyed the interaction between herself and Chris. After the fiasco of Ashley from Resident Evil 4, it was refreshing to see a new female companion who was competent and very capable. I do believe they were going for something different when they changed up the characters and setting in Resident Evil 5, and for me, it worked.

#4 - Claire Redfield

Kickassery runs in the Redfield family. Those must be some proud parents! Although I'm more familiar with Chris, who could forget his sister Claire? She is a very kind and compassionate person who can still get the job done despite any feelings she may have. With her determination and level headedness, she will let nothing stand in the way of reaching her goals. She's a very realistic type of character who seems very humanoid to me and has a way of portraying her emotions to others in a very unique way.

Oh, and she looks hot with short hair too! Does it get any better than that?

#3 - Sherry Birkin

Sherry gets big points in my books for many reasons. Firstly, she wasn't an extremely annoying child character, which is rare. Right from the get go, Sherry was a very smart and mature child, which isn't surprising, given her parent's background.

Her return in Resident Evil 6 was an amazing one. Sherry grew up following the paths of her childhood saviors and is now a gun toting supergirl! Sherry's enthusiasm and positivity is refreshing  to me, even if she is a bit naive in that regard. Even though she's had a tough life and knows the types of circumstances she's getting into, you rarely see her show any signs of weakness. I very much love Sherry for the fact that even though she was already introduced in Resident Evil 2, you get to see her really shine as an adult. It was like bringing in a whole new character.. even if she already existed.

#2 - Ada Wong

Ada Wong and her red dress have become somewhat iconic to the series. She kicks ass, and always looks incredibly sexy doing it (and acknowledges it). Ada is by far the most independent and mysterious character in the series. You never know what Ada is doing, why she's doing, or who she's doing it for.

She always leaves with more questions than answers and constantly keeps me guessing as to what her motives are.. or when I'll see her again. She constantly change sides and acts so casually about everything that goes on around her.. and that's what I love most about her. Ada Wong does what Ada Wong wants. Plus, no list like this would ever be complete without her.

#1 - Jill Valentine

Jill has to be my number one on this list. Mostly for the fact that we have seen Jill in so many different outfits, different hairstyles, different roles and with different partners. In each role she plays, she steals the show. I am really confident that there is nothing that Jill Valentine can't do. To me, she is one of the most diverse character out of all characters in the franchise.

I've also always loved Jill in all of her many appearances. In Resident Evil, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil Revelations, Resident Evil 5.. plus.. she's the master of unlocking! How could you go wrong with a woman like Jill Valentine? You couldn't. Give me a piece of that Jill Sandwich.
